Yandang Mountain National Forest Park – Nengren Temple

Nengren Temple is located by Jinxi Rock in Dalongqiu Scenic Area. It is one of the larger ancient temples among the eighteen ancient temples in Yandang Mountain. Nengren Temple was initially built in the second year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (999 AD). After the Southern Song Dynasty, Nengren Temple had an increasing influence across the country. At its peak, there were three hundred monks and a thousand pilgrims every day. It became one of the 30 relatively famous temples in the country. In the temple, there is a large iron cauldron. It is 1.38 meters high and 2.4 meters in diameter. The cauldron weighs 18,500 kilograms. It was cast in 1092 (the seventh year of Yuanyou in the Northern Song Dynasty). Therefore, it is also called Dahuosi. Although this temple has gradually declined due to repeated wars and disasters, the inheritance of eminent monks and virtuous people in successive generations has accumulated rich historical culture for Nengren Temple and become an important cultural landscape in Yandang Mountain.
