Yangang Peak

Yangang Peak is a mountain peak in Yandang Mountain, which was formed about 120 million years ago and is a Cenozoic volcanic rock outcrop on the Pacific continental margin. According to the ‘Zai Jing Tang Ji’, Yandang Mountain is naturally divided into North and South Yandang Mountains by the Ou River, and is referred to as North Yandang Mountain, South Yandang Mountain, West Yandang Mountain, East Yandang Mountain, and Central Yandang Mountain based on their scenic locations.

Its development and carving began in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and reached its peak in the Song Dynasty. Throughout the ages, scholars and literati have flocked to this place, leaving behind poetic verses and calligraphic works by Xie Lingyun, Shen Kuo, Xu Xiake, and Zhang Daqian, among others.
