Located in the old revolutionary base of Southwestern Shandong, Yangshan Ancient Town Military Tourism Area is situated in Yangshan Town in the northwest of Jining County. With military themes at its core, the area encompasses unique rock formations, water features, and ancient town landscapes, complemented by pastoral sightseeing, red culture, and sports expansion activities, making it a richly contented military tourism resort. The scenic area is currently divided into several major parts: Cultural Memorial Area, Ancient Town Cultural Experience Area, Battle Simulation Area, Expansion Sports Area, Geological Park Area, and Agricultural Ecological Leisure Area.
Inside the Southwest Shandong Campaign Memorial Hall, there are two sections: the Southwest Shandong Campaign Exhibition Hall and the Southwest Shandong Campaign Panorama Hall, which utilize modern technologies such as sound, light, and electricity to showcase the entire process of the Southwest Shandong Campaign, marked by Liu and Deng’s strong crossing of the Yellow River and the victorious end of the Yangshan Campaign. The hall displays many precious historical photos, telegrams, letters, and other artifacts, as well as albums, recordings, and videos related to the Southwest Shandong Campaign.
The Jining Military Cultural Hall mainly showcases significant events and major achievements that have occurred in Jining and Yangshan throughout Chinese military history, allowing visitors to understand the military and economic status of Jining and Yangshan in the long river of history. The Wang Jie Memorial Hall is built in memory of the great soldier Wang Jie from Jining. The exhibition is rich in content and detailed, with many little-known historical materials, vivid and touching plots, and the use of a large number of high-tech exhibition methods.
The Ordnance Garden displays weapons and equipment such as the Dongfeng-2 missile, T-34 tank, An-26 transport aircraft, H-5 bomber, and J-6 fighter, making it a favorite among military enthusiasts. The Ancient Town Cultural Experience Area includes the main body of Yangshan Ancient Town, integrating ancient town cultural experience and residence, mainly constructing two functional areas: tourism commerce area and residential area. Utilizing the rich historical site resources of the ancient town, ancient shops, and handicraft workshops are restored, allowing you to feel history and understand folk customs in a brand-new experience.
The Battle Simulation Area, located in the northwest of the scenic area, includes the Thirty-Six Stratagems Theme Park, Chinese War Park, and World War Park. Different terrains are used to conduct different CS combat simulation projects, and other activity projects such as model aircraft paradise, orienteering treasure hunt, and water jungle adventure are also built.
The Expansion Sports Area, located in the east of the scenic area, is divided into two parts: Military Training Center and Quality Expansion Base. A militia training base is built to carry out military training activities, and to meet the needs of self-driving tours, urban fitness, and expansion sports, projects such as orienteering, car camps, outdoor expansion camps, and go-kart experiences are developed and constructed.
The Geological Park Area, located in the west of the scenic area, features lakes and mountains, strange rocks, and constructions such as Cao Gong Pavilion, Peng Gong Pavilion, God of War Bridge, Command Platform, Fishing Platform, Viewing Platform, Poet Garden, Lake Circumference Pedestrian Boardwalk, and one of the longest grinding roads in the world.
The agricultural ecological leisure area is located in the northeast of the scenic area. Here, agricultural planting technology and farming culture are displayed. Tourists can experience rural life, taste local cuisine, and enjoy pastoral scenery. Facilities such as fruit and vegetable picking gardens, farm inns, water markets, and leisure docks will be built to give tourists a different rural life experience.
