Yanqi Lake is located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain and beside the Great Wall. Every spring and autumn, flocks of wild geese often come to rest in the lake, hence its name. It was officially opened to receive tourists in 1987. In 2002, Yanqi Lake was rated as a AAAA-level tourist scenic area. In 2014, the APEC Informal Leaders’ Meeting was held here. In May 2017, at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, people gathered here to discuss cooperation plans, build cooperation platforms, and share cooperation results.
Yanqi Lake once again became the focus of the world’s attention. Yanqi Lake is composed of eastern and western lake areas. The water surface is wide. The lake surface of Yanqi Lake scenic area is 230 hectares, and the slow traffic system around the lake is 14 kilometers. Yanqi Lake has flat terrain and wide water area, which is very suitable for carrying out various water and land entertainment projects. It is a well-known tourist scenic area and water park in the suburbs of Beijing. Yanqi Lake currently has water sightseeing vessels such as dragon boats, painted pleasure boats, speedboats, battery boats, and big yellow duck boats. In addition, there are more than ten land entertainment projects such as rapids rides, water slides, entertainment sports cars, pirate ships, bumper cars, anime small trains, and carousels, which can meet the entertainment needs of different groups. Tourists can take a boat for a tour around the lake or around the island. They can also take a car, ride a bike, or go on a hike along the lake road. After thirty years of development and construction, the Yanqi Lake scenic area has made full use of its unique natural tourism resources to turn an ordinary medium-sized reservoir into a municipal-level scenic area and a national AAAA-level tourist scenic area, and has developed an ordinary reservoir management institution into a tourist resort integrating sightseeing and leisure vacations, making contributions to establishing a good tourism image of Huairou. Preferential policies: Children: Free for those under 1.2 meters (inclusive); half price for those between 1.2 meters (exclusive) and 1.5 meters (inclusive). Elderly: Free for those aged 60 or above with their ID cards. Disabled people: Free with disability certificates. Military personnel: Active-duty military personnel with valid certificates and original ID cards are free. Students: 1.Students over 5 meters (excluding) can enjoy half-price tickets with a valid student ID.
