The Yantai Hill Lighthouse is a landmark building in Yantai City. It was built in April 1988. It is a large navigational lighthouse located on the top of the coast of Yantai Port, specifically used for guiding ships entering and leaving the port. However, it is not the original Yantai Hill Lighthouse. The original lighthouse was built by the British in 1905. Due to years of disrepair and weak illumination, it could no longer be used. In the early 1980s, it was demolished and later this new lighthouse was rebuilt. This lighthouse integrates navigation, tourism, and maritime traffic control. It was designed by Tsinghua University. The tower is 49.5 meters high and has 12 floors. The bottom three floors adopt a castle-like architectural style. There is an elevator that can directly reach the observation deck on the 11th floor. At the top, there is a 360-degree rotating lighting lamp with a direct irradiation distance of up to 30 nautical miles. Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:30.
