The Yantai Museum was established in 1958. There are currently two museum sites. The original site is located in the Fujian Guild Hall (Yantai Folk Custom Museum), a national key cultural relics protection unit. The new site is located at No. 61, South Street, the new museum building. The new museum has a construction area of 17,000 square meters and a total investment of 160 million yuan. It is located at the west end of the central cultural square in Yantai. It was approved in 2007 and construction began in 2009. The overall building is divided into one underground floor and four above-ground floors. It includes parts such as cultural relics storerooms, multi-functional lecture halls, halls, exhibition halls, tea seats, 4D cinemas, office areas, and reading areas. It is a comprehensive modern museum that centrally reflects Yantai’s humanities, history, and culture and art. In 2017, it was promoted to the third batch of national first-class museums.
Opening hours: From May 1st to October 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 – 17:00; from November 1st to April 30th, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 – 16:30; closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; open from 09:00 – 16:30 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, and Qingming Festival; open from 09:00 – 17:00 on Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. Audio guide rental: Free use of audio tour guides. Valid ID and a deposit of 100 yuan per unit are required. Handle at the general service desk.
