The Yau Ma Tei Theatre is one of the existing cinemas and theatres in Hong Kong from the pre-war period. It has the title of one of the ‘Five Major Theatres’. The main building of the Yau Ma Tei Theatre was completed in 1930. The characteristic elements of the building include the pillars on both sides of the main entrance, the Chinese-style sloping roof, the Art Deco-style facade and gable, the steel trusses and wooden purlins supporting the roof, and the arches and side walls of the original stage.
