Yegu Bug Adventure, officially known as ‘Yegu·Bug Outbreak Creative Ecological Farm,’ is located in the village of Pingyao Tangbu. The farm is situated within a complete valley, featuring clear mountain streams, bamboo slopes, and terraced fields, all brimming with natural charm. “The goal is to allow children to learn scientific knowledge while playing,” said Wu Lixiong, a partner and senior designer at the farm.
Five years ago, inspired by his son’s interest in reading about insects and studying them, he decided to create this large-scale insect-themed amusement park in Hangzhou. After visiting places like Moganshan and Xiazhu Lake, they chose Pingyao and spent over 1000 days crafting this insect-themed family park. As you walk through, accompanied by the sounds of chirping birds and buzzing insects, you might encounter ‘Bug Outbreak’ around a corner or behind a bush—several-meter-tall mantises, three to four-meter-long millipedes, ants larger than fists, ladybugs bigger than pot lids, dung beetles larger than bulls, and even giant rare insects from South America and ancient times… Over 50 species, hundreds of large insect models are both cool and quirky, with many connected to electronic bases that can move and make sounds, making you feel as if you are in an insect kingdom.Yegu Bug Outbreak Family Farm, an ecological farm themed around insects, covers an area of over 200 acres in its first phase. The park has a clear theme and is committed to delving deeply into the insect theme as the direction for its future development, giving it a unique advantage in insect ecological research and study. With its prominent locational advantages, the park features hundreds of insect simulation models that are lifelike, cool, and quirky.
The park boasts a beautiful ecological environment with clear mountains and waters, a rich variety of live insects throughout the seasons, facilitating collection and practical activities such as insect breeding, observation, and specimen making. Combined with agricultural activities and picking experiences, the park offers a rich variety of activities, making it suitable for family outings and vacations in the surrounding area.
The park is open all year round on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 09:00 to 17:00; closed all day on Tuesdays; and open on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day from 09:00 to 17:00.
