Yi Garden, constructed by Zhang Xiu in the early Qing Dynasty, exemplifies the quintessential courtyard architecture.
Emphasizing water as its main feature, Yi Garden is surrounded by walls with a hot spring within the courtyard. The pool is built with stone, adorned with artificial mountains, and water cascades down from the stone peaks, resembling the spouting of pearls and splashing of jade.

Next to the pool, pavilions and arbors are built with carved beams and painted pillars, exuding an antique and elegant charm.

Inside the courtyard, there is a sitting room with a hanging plaque that reads ‘Shuoyu Hall’, which served as a place for Zhang Xiu to read and entertain guests.
