Yijin Fang is one of the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys. Its old name was Tongchao Alley. Since this area is a water network region, the tides of West Lake and South Lake can flow into the ditches of this alley. Someone from this alley became a high-ranking official while away from home and later returned in glory, after which the name of the alley was changed.
No. 16 in the alley is the residence of Zheng Pengcheng, a Jinshi of the Jiaqing period in the Qing Dynasty. The waterside pavilion stage there is particularly distinctive. It is a single-story wooden platform with four columns and a single bay. There is a clear-water pond built below, with a patio in the middle, and an attic in the front. When watching a drama performance here, the water is clear, the wind is fresh, and the sound is crisp, possessing both acoustic principles and aesthetic value.
