Yin Yu Island is located in the northern part of the Yongle Islands in the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea. It is about 1 nautical mile northeast of Yagong Island and 4.5 nautical miles southwest of Quanfu Island. It is a small sandbar with an area of 0.01 square kilometers and an altitude of more than 2 meters. There is a deep pit on the reef flat. The water is blue-black and the water temperature is relatively low. It is called ‘Dragon Pit’. In 1935, it was announced as ‘Observation Beach’. In 1947, it was announced as ‘Senping Beach’. In 1983, ‘Yin Yu’ was announced as the standard name. Chinese fishermen commonly call it ‘Yin Zhi’. Due to the clear water here, it is also a good place for diving and exploring the sea.
