The site of Yingtianmen is located in Xicheng District, Beijing. Nowadays, a marker of ‘Site of Yingtianmen’ has been set up. This marker is a huge rock measuring 4 meters in length and 3 meters in height. It is engraved with: ‘Yingtianmen is the main gate of the palace city of Zhongdu in the Jin Dynasty. It was completed simultaneously with the palaces of Zhongdu in the first year of Jin Zhenyuan (AD 1153). To the south is Xuanyangmen, the main gate of the imperial city. To the north is Daan Hall, the main hall of the imperial palace. In the third year of Zhenyou (AD 1215), it was destroyed in the battle when the Mongols captured Zhongdu. However, its location can be identified. To preserve the cultural context, this precious stone is erected as a record.’
