Yingyangguan is a historical and strategic pass with a perilous terrain. According to the records in Lianshan Chronicles, the famous Northern Song Dynasty general Yue Fei once garrisoned here. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period, Hong Xiuquan and Shi Dakai led troops to fight fiercely for three days and nights here, leaving behind the ‘Ancient Battlefield of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and Thirty-Six Graves’ site.
The remnants of the trenches and fortresses from that time are still present today. Currently, the scenic area has restored projects such as trenches, blockhouses, city gates, walls, and iron suspension bridges. Completed projects include: Yingyang Ancient City Tower, Forest Labyrinth, and the iron suspension bridge spanning across the two banks of the stream.
