Yiyuan Rushan Caverns Scenic Area

The Yiyuan Caverns Scenic Area is composed of Qianrendong, Shilongdong, Yangshendong, Xiandong, aerial cableway, and the forest outside the caves. It is renowned for its concentrated caves with various shapes, unique and beautiful landscapes inside and outside the caves, and distinctive charm, making it a must-visit destination for tourists.

Qianrendong, named for its height, width, and size, is geologically known as ‘Shandong No. 1 Cave’. During the Anti-Japanese War, it served as the site of the Eighth Route Army’s Shandong Military Region arsenal. The cave features twenty-three wall-carved Buddha statues in different postures and three sets of low-relief stories of Buddha, including the towering statue of ‘Sakyamuni’ and the 13.8-meter long ‘Nirvana’ statue, making it a sacred place for Buddhist pilgrims.

Shilongdong gets its name from the natural stone dragon inside the cave, spanning 218 meters with 43 scenic spots, including main attractions such as ‘Twin Turtles Guarding the Door’, ‘Dragon King Palace’, ‘Milky Way Meeting’, ‘Dragon and Snake Fighting’, and ‘Longevity Lake’.

Yangshendong is named after the legend that the Jade Emperor led immortals to rest here during their travels. The tour covers more than 1800 meters with 68 scenic spots, featuring attractions like ‘Stone Forest’, ‘Waterfall’, ‘Venus’, ‘Lion Guarding the Door’, and ‘Tang Monk Fetching Scriptures’.

Xian dong is composed of statues such as ‘Bi Xia Yuan Jun’, ‘Guan Yin Bodhisattva’, and ‘Child-Sending Mother’. Outside the cave, a ‘Buddha’ character is etched 10 meters high and 6 meters wide. The ‘Shilong Ferry’ iron suspension bridge spans a gorge, 108 meters long, 2.2 meters wide, and 38 meters high, earning the title of ‘First Bridge of the Jiangbei Region’. Inside the cave group, there is a faint glow and a sense of immortality, creating a blessed and mystical environment; outside, the forest is lush, and the flowers and grass provide shade, making for a beautiful scenery, especially in autumn when the mountains are covered in red leaves reminiscent of Fragrant Hills.
