Japanese duo sensation YOASOBI returns to Hong Kong this year, widely recognized as the most representative songwriting legend of the Reiwa era. Comprised of Ayase and ikura, YOASOBI made their Hong Kong debut at the Clockenflap music festival last year, showcasing their stunning stage presence. The performance left fans eagerly anticipating their return to Hong Kong. After a year, the wait is over! On December 26-27, YOASOBI will revisit Hong Kong, taking to the stage at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena. Established in 2019, YOASOBI (meaning ‘night play’) was named as such because the two members only had time for band activities at night, considering their countless nights of idea exchange and practice as ‘night play’. Initially commissioned to create music based on web novels, YOASOBI fully embraced the concept of ‘novel x music’, quickly establishing a music style filled with distinct storytelling. With Ayase’s phenomenal creative power and ikura’s unique voice, which combines explosiveness and clarity, YOASOBI quickly became a regular on domestic music charts. Their debut song ‘Yoru ni Kakeru’ became the first Japanese song to surpass one billion streaming plays. After composing for novels, the increasingly popular YOASOBI began to be invited to create opening or ending themes for popular animations. The theme song ‘Idol’ for the first season of ‘My Pushed Child’ became the first Japanese song to top the Billboard Global Singles Chart. This year, YOASOBI was invited to perform at one of the world’s most iconic music festivals, Coachella, indicating that YOASOBI is not only influential in the Japanese music scene but also a leader in cultural export. As YOASOBI returns to Hong Kong for another performance at AsiaWorld-Expo, what surprises will they bring along with their well-known hits? Let’s wait and experience the excitement on December 26 and 27, and spend this precious Boxing Day together. The event is open on December 26, Thursday, from 19:00 to 22:00, and on December 27, Friday, from 20:00 to 23:00. The performance time and duration are subject to the live event.
