Yongfeng Warehouse Ruins Park is the site of an ancient large-scale warehouse and was listed among the top ten archaeological discoveries of 2002. In 2001, a real estate developer was preparing to invest in a commercial and residential building here. However, during the routine exploration before development, archaeologists unexpectedly discovered a large-scale ancient architectural site and a vast number of porcelain shards. After extensive research, it was found that from the Southern Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, this place had always been a government storage institution. Its predecessor was the official grain warehouse ‘Changping Cang’ of the Southern Song Dynasty, and in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it was the location of Yongfeng Warehouse and Hongji Warehouse, fully demonstrating that Ningbo is an important trade port on the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Later, the government spent 60 million yuan to repurchase this land and allocated funds for archaeological excavation, thus preserving this precious heritage. Now, it has been transformed into an open urban park. As you walk along the wooden boardwalk, appreciating the foundations and river courses restored to their original state at a 1:1 scale according to the site, it feels as if you can still sense the bustling atmosphere of the warehouse at that time. Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
