Yu Liuliang Numismatic Museum is located on Dongzha Guanqian Street. The small blue-tiled residential building appears inconspicuous at first glance, yet it houses an exhibition of Mr. Yu Liuliang’s collection of coins and commemorative coins from around the world, gathered over 40 years. Even a cursory visit through the museum allows one to appreciate the vast world of numismatics.
The museum displays various types of currency, including metal coins, paper money, and spendable coins. These span from the Xia and Shang dynasties to the modern era, covering an impressive thirty centuries. Each coin’s origin, nationality, and cultural history are accompanied by descriptive texts to help visitors understand its ‘meaning’, offering a unique perspective into world history.
If you have an interest in coin collecting, there are sets of commemorative coins for sale near the exhibition exit, which you can purchase for your collection or as a keepsake. The museum is open all year round from 09:00 to 17:00.
