Yuandi Village, located in Shangyuan Town, is one of the larger administrative villages in Longquan City. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Yuandi Village was a well-known landlord village, and to this day, it still preserves 28 ancient residences from that era, covering an area of over 20,000 square meters. The village is filled with the simple yet grand Ming Dynasty porch columns, exquisitely carved Qing Dynasty horse legs, and doors and windows influenced by Western styles.
Xu Dayou, the village party secretary, told reporters that in modern times, Yuandi Village has produced numerous talents. The closely packed ancient residences are the village’s most significant characteristic. Upon entering the village, one can see the high white walls, the dark green tiles, the swallow-tailed eaves, and the carved beams and painted rafters, all showcasing the architectural features of the Zhejiang mountain villages and serving as a model of ancient Longquan residences.
The upper part of the village, represented by the former residence of Xu Yangshan, is characterized by the uniform ‘four waters to the hall’ style. The specific opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
