Yuanshan National Forest Park is located in the southwestern part of Boshan District, Zibo City, Shandong Province, and encompasses five major scenic areas: Phoenix Mountain, Yuwang Mountain, Wanglu Mountain, Xuejiading, and Jiagutai, among which Phoenix Mountain is the core scenic area with the most attractions. The park features rugged mountains, dense forests, and numerous recreational and fitness facilities, making it a renowned destination for ecotourism.
Phoenix Mountain, named for its resemblance to a phoenix, was historically an important site for religious activities and a strategic battleground during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. Today, visitors can still see ancient sites such as the Song Dynasty’s Yuhuang Palace, the Ming Dynasty’s Red Gate, and the Taishan Palace hidden among the dense forests. The Warring States Qi Great Wall runs through the scenic area from east to west, with the original story of Lady Meng Jiang crying at the Great Wall originating from here, and the anti-Japanese war’s artillery towers and bunkers can also be seen. Within the scenic area, one can also witness the rare karst landform spectacle of the North – the Stone Sea. Additionally, the park includes attractions and projects that blend with the forest, such as the Forest Paradise, Bird Language Forest, Yunbu Bridge, Happy Dinosaur Valley, China Forest Museum, and the Stone Sea Boardwalk, offering a rich variety of content.
