Longtou Temple Park is located in Longta Subdistrict, Yubei District, covering an area of approximately 800 acres, with the core scenic area being 650 acres and the landscape avenue occupying 150 acres. The park is characterized by higher grounds surrounding a lower central area, with a height difference of up to 100 meters, making it a valley-style park.
Themed around ‘technology’, the park boasts a greenery rate of 75% and is divided into seven major functional areas: the entrance landscape display area, the scientific popularization garden landscape area, the valley wetland landscape area, the pastoral flower sea landscape area, the children’s play area, the mountain forest ecological recreation area, and the service management area. Together with the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, the park serves as a science education base for adolescents.
Under the overarching concept of ‘Technology Enlightening the Future’, the park subtly incorporates multiple scientific popularization spots, such as a 300-meter-long scientific art relief corridor at the entrance of the North Gate. The relief images are divided into epic, modern, and future chapters, showcasing China’s brilliant history of technological development from the four great inventions to the Shenzhou VII spacecraft.
Notably, the construction of Longtou Temple Park itself fully embodies the theme of technological environmentalism. For instance, when you throw trash into the bins, they will verbally thank you; the establishment of the Academician Forest disseminates scientific culture; the creation of lakes and wetlands forms an ecological water cycle system; and the use of recycled materials to create park facilities. The park is also a technological ‘museum’ in itself. The lake water and greenery irrigation water mainly come from a rainwater collection system. Rainwater is primarily treated through plant self-purification, with multiple ecological green islands, wetlands, and various aquatic plants set up in the lake to achieve self-purification and form an ecological water cycle system.
Longtou Temple Park reflects a simple, light, and grand modern garden style, combining Chinese natural landscape gardening with British landscape gardening, creating a rich and multi-layered park facade. At the bottom of the valley lies a meandering lake, with flower sea forests by the lake, making it an ideal place for citizens to enjoy flowers in spring and leaves in autumn. The park is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
