Yudong Old Street has a history of 650 years. The street has preserved 2,146 stone slabs, extending approximately 846 meters in length. The base of these slabs serves as a drainage system, which, in ancient times, also functioned as a hiding place for soldiers, with water channels running through the city to the moat.
Surrounding the old street, there remains a wealth of historical heritage, including Dongyue Temple, Baoan Bridge, Sister Wells, the former residence of a Martial Scholar, Zhang’s Private School, and Fan’s Residence, all of which are protected cultural sites in Haimen City.
