The Yue Opera Museum, situated at the base of Shengzhou Lutaishan and neighboring the renowned ‘Xishan Di Yi Lou’ along the Shanxi River, is connected to the Yue Opera Home, celebrated as the ‘cradle of Yue Opera artists’. It stands as the country’s first professional opera museum.
The museum’s exhibition is thoughtfully divided into three halls and one corridor, housing over 140 panels, 758 photographs, and 327 artifacts. These elements systematically and clearly depict the evolution of Yue Opera, illustrating its journey through hardships, continuous reforms, and innovative strides towards prosperity.
The first exhibition hall delves into the history of ground singing books, small song classes, and Shaoxing Wen Opera male troupes. The second exhibition hall presents exhibits from the two periods of Shaoxing Wen Opera female troupes and female Yue Opera. The third exhibition hall highlights the history of Yue Opera during its prosperous development period following the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.
Visitors are welcome to explore the museum from 08:30 to 16:30, Tuesday through Sunday, throughout the year from January 1st to December 31st. The museum is closed all day on Mondays and observes a break from 11:30 to 13:30.
