The Yueju Opera Museum is located at the foot of Lutaishan in Shengzhou. It is adjacent to the famous scenic spot ‘First Tower on the Stream and Mountain’ in Shanxi and connected to the ‘cradle of Yueju Opera artists’, the Yueju Opera Home. It is the first professional opera museum in the country. The exhibition is divided into three halls and one corridor, with more than 140 layouts, 758 photos, and 327 real objects. It systematically and clearly reflects the appearance of the development of Yueju Opera and shows the ups and downs experienced by Yueju Opera in its formation and development as well as its course of continuous reform, innovation and prosperity. The first exhibition hall showcases the history of floor-singing books, small opera troupes, and male classes of Shaoxing Wenxi. The second exhibition hall displays exhibits from the two periods of female classes of Shaoxing Wenxi and female Yueju Opera. The third exhibition hall presents the history of Yueju Opera during the period of prosperity and development after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from Tuesday to Sunday, 08:30 – 16:30; from January 1st to December 31st, closed all day on Monday, and closed for rest from 11:30 to 13:30. Closed on Monday.
