The Yuewang Terrace is located at the southeastern foot of Wolong Mountain in downtown Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. It was built by later generations to commemorate King Goujian of Yue who endured hardships to rejuvenate the country and avenge humiliation. It corresponds to the Yuewang Palace from a distance. The lower part of the Yuewang Terrace is the brick-built base of the Yuewang Terrace, which is a historical site of architecture from the Song Dynasty.
There is a 7-meter-high arched gate in the middle of the base. The upper part is a palace-style building. Now it is the ‘Exhibition Hall of Historical Sites of the State of Yue’, presenting the history of the State of Yue 2,500 years ago to everyone with pictures and physical objects. The Yuewang Terrace uses strip stones to build the platform foundation and protects the old bricks inside. On the platform is a building with five bays, single-eaved, and Xieshan roof, made of cement imitating wood structure. The plaque ‘Yuewang Terrace’ inscribed by Mr. Sha Menghai is hung on it. Ascending westward from the Yuewang Terrace step by step and climbing to the main peak of Fushan Mountain, there is a Wanghai Pavilion on it, from which you can enjoy the scenery of Yuezhong. The specific business hours and operating status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
