Yuhai Tower is one of the four major libraries in Zhejiang Province, located on Daoyuan Qian Street in Rui’an City. Constructed in 1888 by Sun Yiyan and his son Sun Yirang, the complex now includes the Baijin Studio and the former residence of Sun Yirang. The architectural features of Yuhai Tower are its integration of library functions, the characteristics of outstanding residential architecture in southern Zhejiang, and the style of private gardens.

The tower faces north and is surrounded by rivers on three sides, with two main sections and corridors on both sides, creating a tranquil courtyard with lush flowers and trees. The name Yuhai Tower is derived from the admiration of Sun’s father and son for the Southern Song Dynasty scholar Wang Yinglin and his extensive works, particularly his masterpiece ‘Yuhai’. The entire site is open to the public from 09:00 to 17:00 all year round.
