Yunfu City Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and Yunfu Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall, Yunfu City Museum, is a comprehensive museum. It officially opened on December 28, 2009, and has been offering free admission to the public since then. In May 2013, it was rated as a second-level national museum by the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
Yunfu City Museum is a ‘public welfare’ institution that integrates education, collection, protection, research, and exhibition. It carries the important responsibility of protecting the material cultural heritage of Yunfu and showcasing and inheriting the local characteristics of Yunfu culture. Through its exhibitions, it reveals the profound cultural heritage of Yunfu, promotes the culture of the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, Nanjiang culture, and stone art culture, allowing the general public to understand the historical evolution and local cultural characteristics of Yunfu by visiting the exhibitions. At the same time, it also displays Yunfu’s current and future development plans to the audience. The city museum has now become an important place for the public to learn, appreciate, and relax, and it is also an important window for Yunfu’s cultural exchanges with the outside world.
