Yunhe Terraced Fields are among the largest in the Eastern China region. Besides the tiered fields and the sea of clouds at sunrise, the beautiful water scenery during the sowing season from May to June is also a sight to behold. The mature rice fields in October and the winter snowscapes are equally enchanting, attracting many photography enthusiasts. The vast scenic area is divided into two major touring areas: the Silver Valley and the Nine Bend Yunhuan. Shortly after the ticket booth, there are two roads; turn left for Silver Valley and right for Nine Bend Yunhuan. The smaller Nine Bend Yunhuan features two viewing platforms, ‘Sunrise Sea of Clouds’ and ‘Heavenly Yunhe,’ with the former being ideal for sunrise viewing and offering a splendid sea of clouds. However, the Silver Valley, which was once a silver mine, is more favored by tourists and photography enthusiasts. In addition to the terraced fields, it also has relics from the mining era. Qixingdun (approximately 1100 meters above sea level) offers a more spectacular and open view of Yunhe Terraced Fields, and many people wait here for the sunrise on clear days. Typically, visitors arrive at Nine Bend Yunhuan in the afternoon and then proceed to Silver Valley, staying overnight at a farmhouse near Qixingdun (Meizhu Village) for the convenience of viewing the sunrise the next morning. The lack of light pollution also makes the night sky here particularly beautiful. Descending from Qixingdun via the walking trail, one can enjoy the company of waterfalls along the way, reaching the ancient village of Kenggen Stone Village in about an hour. The village has a long history, with old yellow stone houses and a few grocery stores, maintaining a non-commercial atmosphere. Upon entering the village, there is an old spring well left from the silver mining era, and a Silver Official Bridge over the small river at the entrance, also constructed during the mining times.
