Yunmen Temple

The full name of Yunmen Temple is Dajue Zen Temple on Yunmen Mountain. It is the birthplace of the Yunmen Sect, one of the five major branches of Chinese Zen Buddhism. The Yunmen Buddhist College established here is also a Buddhist research resort in Shaoguan second only to Nanhua Temple. The temple was built around 923 AD by Zen Master Wenyan of the Yunmen Sect and has a very long history. The entire building of Yunmen Temple is solemn and elegant, with a delicate style of Lingnan. Although the temple is located in a remote place, there is Guanyin Mountain in front and Guihua Pool behind. The splendid scenery is unlimited and it is full of spiritual beauty. For more than a thousand years, incense has been flourishing and believers are in an endless stream. To this day, the temple still preserves a number of precious cultural relics.
