Yunmeng Xiandu Scenic Area, known as the Zhangjiajie of the North and one of the top ten scenic spots in the suburbs of Beijing, is acclaimed as a must-visit destination in Beijing. It is also the filming location for ‘Let the Bullets Fly’ at Baihe Bay. Characterized by its peculiarity, danger, beauty, wilderness, and clear pools, the scenic area spans 16 square kilometers. Within the area, visitors can marvel at the towering peaks, grotesque rocks, cascading waterfalls, and deep, clear pools. The scenery changes with every step, captivating at every turn. In spring, wildflowers bloom; in summer, lush valleys; in autumn, red leaves – making it an ideal choice for mountain and wilderness tourism.
Yunmeng Xiandu Scenic Area’s thirty-six ponds are composed of green mountains, clear waters, deep ponds, and dense forests, forming a purely natural scenic area. Attractions such as the Boji Pond, Sun Pond, Moon Pond, Dragon Heart Pond, Mandarin Duck Pond, Eighteen Ponds, Luding Pond, and the Luhua Grand Canyon are scattered throughout the Longtanjian Scenic Area, forming pairs and strings, with each pond filled with clear water visible to the bottom. The Dragon Heart Pond in Yunmeng Xiandu Scenic Area is said to have been the dwelling place of the Dragon King, with its deep and pristine waters. Another renowned pond is the largest one, the ‘Seven Star Pond’, which is believed to have been a place for local people to pray for rain. In years of drought, people would gather here to pray to the Dragon King for rain, which was said to be very effective. Yunmeng Xiandu Scenic Area is filled with forest paths, caves, and trees that block the sun, and is a place where flowers and grass thrive, with a variety of pear blossoms, mountain orchids, wild chrysanthemums, and azaleas.
