Zengbu Park, formerly known as Duishan Garden, bears a striking resemblance to the ‘Little Sun Yat-sen Hall’ and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall located by the Zengbu River in Guangzhou. This ‘Little Sun Yat-sen Hall’ is actually a private villa complex built in the 1930s by Huang Guanzhang, the former military governor Chen Jitang’s quartermaster and deputy director of the Bank of Guangdong, who modeled it after the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The design and materials used are identical to those of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, earning it the nickname ‘Replica of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall’.
Inside this ‘Little Sun Yat-sen Hall’, the ‘bell-shaped windows’ are unique to Guangzhou: the windows are shaped like a clock, with vertical and horizontal wooden frames on the interior, which can be pushed and pulled from front to back, and also opened and closed from top to bottom, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship and versatility. If not for the reconstruction, these ‘one-of-a-kind’ windows would have likely disappeared forever with the decay of the wood.
The park is open from January 1st to December 31st, 06:00 to 21:00.
