Zhabei Park is located to the west of Gonghexin Road, along Luochuan East Road to the south, extends to Pingxingguan Road to the east, and is close to Yanchang Road to the north. In modern times, it was known as Song Park, also called Jiaoren Park, with Tian Road named Song Park Road in honor of the martyr of the Xinhai Revolution, Song Jiaoren. The tomb of martyr Song Jiaoren is also within the park, constructed in 1914.
The park is roughly rectangular in shape from east to west, featuring a natural layout. The western part of the park is centered around Song’s tomb, with an earthen mound and a lotus pond behind it. The central area is the main scenic spot, featuring a garden lake covering more than 10,000 square meters, with varying widths of water surface and a sinuous shoreline. There are two large islands and one peninsula in the lake, with artificial mountains of varying heights on them. The main building, Chunhui Hall, is located at the eastern end of the garden lake, and other pavilions and structures are mostly built on the islands or along the lakeshore.
The eastern part of the park consists of woodlands, lawns, lotus ponds, and a children’s park. The park is open all year round, with opening hours from 5:00 to 22:00 from May 1st to October 31st, and from 6:00 to 21:00 from November 1st to April 30th of the following year.
