Zhang Cangshui’s former residence is located on Cangshui Street in Ningbo City, featuring a traditional Sanhe courtyard. Above the courtyard gate, there is a brick carving with the words ‘Close to the Sage and Gentleman’. The main hall and the two sides are flanked by multi-storied wing rooms. The Zhang family’s former residence was built by Zhang’s father, Zhang Gui Zhang, and has been inhabited and renovated by Zhang’s descendants ever since.

From the existing architecture, the residential part of the building dates back to a later period, while the study building is slightly older. In 1999, the former residence underwent renovation and is now well-preserved. Inside the residence, there is a memorial hall dedicated to Zhang Cangshui. The exhibition is divided into three parts: the central hall uses a historical scroll format, with ten title-style texts highlighting Zhang Cangshui’s stormy journey and national spirit, and a central sculpture conveying to visitors ‘If there were no war.

..;…;’ Reflecting on Zhang Cangshui’s life in his former residence and his literary sentiments. On the west side, a small courtyard is Zhang Cangshui’s study from his youth, a five-bay single-eave hard mountain brick and wood structure building, with a porch in front and flowers and plants planted in the courtyard. The study (Bingcha Lecture Hall) displays Zhang Cangshui’s calligraphy, showcasing his literary accomplishments and elegant calligraphic art.

A bookstore named after Zhang Cangshui’s collection ‘Qilingcao’ has been opened for visitors to rest.
