Zhangzhou Ancient City, located in the ‘Coastal Zou Lu’ and the national historical and cultural city of Zhangzhou, is the core area of Zhangzhou and an important part of the Minnan Cultural Ecological Protection Experimental Zone, a national cultural ecological conservation area. Situated in the bustling commercial heart of the city, the ancient city is also an old district where historical buildings and traditional culture are concentrated. With its distinct features of ‘Old Street Charm, Slow Life, Minnan Flavor, and Taiwan-Overseas Chinese Connection’, it boasts abundant cultural tourism resources. In 2004, it was awarded the ‘UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Conservation Award’ and was selected as one of the first ‘China Historical and Cultural Blocks’. In recent years, Zhangzhou Ancient City has been an important filming location for a series of films and TV dramas such as ‘Cloud Water Song’, ‘Strait’, and ‘Theater’, which have come to the historical blocks for shooting. It is open to the public all year round from 16:00 to 22:00.
