Zhejiang Province Abacus Association Guohua Abacus Museum

Located in the east of Linhai City, it is a museum in China that showcases the essence of abacus from ancient and modern times, both domestically and internationally. Renowned books such as ‘The Complete Collection of Chinese Abacus’ and ‘The Universal Encyclopedia of Abacus’ refer to it as ‘The Quintessence of Chinese Culture’. The museum houses over 1300 types of abacuses, more than 3000 pieces of abacus historical materials, and over 1500 pieces of photos and materials related to abacus activities from around the world. Among the exhibits, there are abacuses used during the Ming Dynasty; the largest abacus stands at 1.68 meters high, 6.25 meters long, and weighs 1008 kilograms; the longest abacus has 225 rods; the heaviest abacus weighs 589 kilograms, while the smallest abacus is only half the size of a fingernail. The museum displays abacuses made from various materials such as gold, silver, copper, iron, aluminum, gemstones, ivory, pearls, ceramics, and wood, as well as various shaped craft abacuses. The variety is vast and dazzling to the eyes. The museum is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.
