The Zhejiang Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall is located on Yunju Mountain in the southeast of West Lake and was constructed in 1985. The memorial covers an area of approximately 70,000 square meters, including a martyrs’ memorial hall, a martyrs’ monument, a large bronze relief wall, a large granite group sculpture, a memorial square, pathways, vehicular roads, service facilities, and garden features.
The monument stands at 27 meters tall, shaped like a sail, with the words ‘Revolutionary Martyrs Immortal Forever’ inscribed in gold on the front. The sculpture wall, measuring 82 meters in length and 4.5 meters in height, meanders like the Qiantang River, symbolizing the tides, and is one of the largest bronze relief walls in China currently. The Martyrs Memorial Hall boasts a novel structure, rich in ethnic characteristics, and embodies a sense of the times. Its imposing design houses over a thousand pictures and more than 400 revolutionary artifacts, showcasing the struggle and heroic deeds of over 350 revolutionary martyrs from Zhejiang from the time of the Xinhai Revolution to the period of socialist construction. Opening hours: The hall is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00-11:00 and 13:30-16:00; closed all day on Mondays. Service facilities: Guided tours are provided free of charge for groups of 10 or more. Group leaders should proceed directly to the service center to arrange for the tour. Audio guide rental: Audio guides are available via WeChat public account or wireless group tour receivers for groups of 10 or more. Group leaders should handle the necessary procedures at the service center (no rental fee, a deposit of 100 RMB is required, and the machine must be returned undamaged). After the tour, return the device to the service desk. The deposit will be refunded once the staff confirms there is no damage. If the device is damaged or lost, the renter must compensate accordingly. For domestic and international visitors, there are audio-visual self-guided tour machines available, with both Chinese and English languages. A deposit of 500 RMB is required for each machine (no rental fee), and relevant information and contact details must be registered. After the visit, return the machine to the service desk.
