The Chaohongji Zhenbao Jewelry Museum in Shantou City (referred to as ‘Zhenbao Museum’) was established in 2013. The new museum was completed in October 2023 and is located in Haojiang District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is a jewelry-themed museum that collects gold and silver artifacts and displays exquisite traditional handicrafts. The Zhenbao Museum (new museum) is planned and designed by the Berlin team of the world-renowned design agency gmp Architects. The building area is nearly 8,000 square meters. The entire exhibition space is inspired by jewelry boxes and divided into 11 jewelry compartments. In addition to the seven permanent themed exhibition halls, there are also special exhibition halls, libraries, handicraft workshops and immersive digital experience spaces. The museum’s collections are mainly traditional Han gold and silver jewelry, and it also collects jewelry from many ethnic minorities such as the Miao, Yao, and Tibetan ethnic groups. There are more than a thousand pieces in the collection. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 10:00 to 16:30; Closed all day on Monday all year round.
