In memory of the glorious achievements of national hero Zheng Chenggong in recovering Taiwan, the “Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall” was built in the small ancestral hall of the Zheng family in Shijing Town, Nan’an City, his hometown in 1962. In 1981, a new museum was built on Aofeng Mountain. There are more than 200 important cultural relics on display in the museum, such as Zheng Chenggong’s hair, jade robe, boots, etc. The Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall showcases the great achievements of his heroic life.
The front exhibition hall reflects the central theme of the museum. There is a full-body standing statue of Zheng Chenggong, the “Chronology of Zheng Chenggong’s Major Events”, the “Biography of Zheng Chenggong”, as well as Zheng Chenggong’s poems about “Recovering Taiwan” and “Northern Expedition”, and the color paintings of “Zheng Chenggong Accepting the Surrender Ceremony of Dutch Colonists” and “Taiwanese People Warmly Welcoming Lord Zheng Chenggong”.

The middle exhibition hall displays three aspects of content. One is “Talented in both civil and military affairs, and handsome in youth”, the second is “Northern Expedition against the Qing Dynasty, with awe-inspiring prestige in the southeast”, and the third is “Recovering Taiwan and Building the Treasure Island”.

The content displayed in the back exhibition hall is “Great achievements that will be remembered forever”. There are precious cultural relics unearthed from Zheng Chenggong’s tomb, rare treasures, as well as a large number of classical historical materials and paintings and calligraphy inscribed by many famous calligraphers and painters, etc.

Standing on the balcony of the third hall and looking at Jinmen Island, which is only 6 nautical miles away, can arouse people’s continuous yearning for reunification. We pray that in the near future, compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can jointly cultivate the blue fields in Wuma Jinjiang with vast expanse of clear water.
