Zhong Fang was a scholar and statesman in the Ming Dynasty. He could compose poems at the age of seven. At the age of ten, he became a xiucai (a successful candidate in the imperial examinations at the county level). At the age of 25, he passed the provincial examination. At the age of 32, he was admitted to the imperial academy after passing the highest imperial examination and was hailed as the ‘prodigy of Yazhou’. Later, he served as the right vice minister of the Ministry of War and the right vice minister of the Ministry of Revenue in Nanjing. His literary works are diverse in form, unique in style, profound in skill and novel in literary grace.
