The labyrinthine stone streets and lanes in the beautiful and ancient Zhongchuan Village, and the village river channels with a bridge every few steps. Although it has gone through many vicissitudes, one can still vaguely see the prosperous and busy scene of the port and wharf in those years. Only on such an ancient street can one experience the tranquility after the hustle and bustle in the old days.
Fuzilou, formerly known as ‘Fuzilou’, is one of the very few character-shaped buildings among Hakka tulou. Only in the air above the building can one see a complete building composed of the character ‘rich’. This building is truly unique.
The Huabao Villa was built by Mr. Hu Wenhu, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader, in the winter of 1946 at a cost of 340,000 Hong Kong dollars. This is one of the three villas built by Mr. Hu Wenhu during his lifetime. The Huabao Villa is a civil structure, partly made of bricks and reinforced concrete structure. It has three floors and is magnificent. The surrounding mountains are covered with maple trees. In spring, the mountains are verdant. In autumn, the forests are all red and extremely beautiful. In recent years, it has been renovated by Dr. Hu Xian and opened as a memorial hall. In March 1991, it was listed as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.
