Zhonghe Ancient Town, once the administrative center of Danzhou, is historically significant as the residence of the great宋代 literary figure Su Dongpo, who lived here for three years during his exile. Due to Su Dongpo’s influence on the local culture, the people of Zhonghe have been fond of composing poetry and couplets for centuries, earning the town the reputation of ‘The Hometown of Poetry and Couplets’.

The main attraction in Zhonghe Town is visiting ancient sites. In addition to the well-known Dongpo Academy, there are also historical sites such as the Guanglang Hermitage, Dongpo Well, and Kuixing Pagoda. The ancient city, dating back to the Song Dynasty, still preserves its western and northern city gates, showcasing the grandeur of the era.

Additionally, strolling through the main streets of Zhonghe Town (which can be covered in about 30 minutes) allows one to immerse in the town’s rustic charm. The town is open all year round, 24/7, with specific business hours subject to daily conditions.
