The Zhongshan City Arboretum is divided into five functional areas (including 19 sub-areas) based on different functions: a popular science specialty garden area, a nursery demonstration area, a characteristic family genus species germplasm preservation area, an ecological forest construction demonstration area, and an entrance management area.
Currently, four sub-gardens including the Magnolia Garden, the Systematic Classification Area, the Excellent Local Tree Species Display Area, and the Bamboo Garden have been preliminarily constructed, while the other sub-gardens are still under construction. Over 1200 species of specimen trees have been collected and introduced, with more than 15,000 plants, including 95 species of Magnoliaceae, more than 250 species of bamboos, and more than 90 protected and rare endangered tree species at the national level, such as Ginkgo, Unisexual Magnolia, and Yew.
At the same time, the infrastructure and supporting facilities of the Zhongshan Arboretum are becoming increasingly complete, with the completion of 15 kilometers of mountain climbing roads, 8 kilometers of circular mountain roads, and artificial lake venues. The arboretum is open all year round with full-day access.
