There are many historical relics on Zhongshan Fourth Road. It is a street of Anti-Japanese War culture. This long road that replicates the gloomy historical memory of a great country has attracted the attention from the world since the 1930s. With its important urban status, it represents the past and present of Chongqing. Zhongshan Fourth Road is a successful case of restoring historical blocks in Chongqing. In the area around Zhongshan Fourth Road, there are relatively concentrated relics of the provisional capital and the Anti-Japanese War. Li Hua, director of the Cultural Development and Management Office of the Red Rock United Front in Chongqing, once said that historical relics such as Guiyuan Garden and Te Garden are important cultural relics in modern Chinese history. They are repaired every year and all follow the principle of repairing the old as it was. In 2010, when Chongqing carried out comprehensive renovation of main roads, this area was well restored as a historical block. The restoration of this historical block area not only retains the historical appearance of cultural relics and historical sites but also combines the characteristics of regional construction. Many buildings along the street are changed into a Chinese-Western style with black bricks, tiles, arched windows and arched corridors. And this style is exactly the architectural style here in the 1930s and 1940s. This makes the renovated buildings and the preserved historical buildings appear more harmonious and give people a sense of neatness, simplicity and grandeur.
