Zhongshan Park is a large comprehensive park in Qingdao. It is adjacent to Taiping Mountain on the east and Badaguan on the south. The park is lush with vegetation and has a wide variety of flowers. Zhongshan Park is surrounded by mountains on three sides. Entering from the main entrance of the park is the famous Cherry Blossom Road. On both sides of the road are 20,000 cherry blossom trees transplanted from Japan. In early May, light pink single-petal cherry blossoms and light red double-petal cherry blossoms fill the branches, competing for beauty. And every year around May Day for 20 days, there is the annual cherry blossom festival in Qingdao, which is very lively at that time. In addition to cherry blossoms, there are also many flowers such as peach blossoms, osmanthus, peonies, chrysanthemums, plum blossoms, and tulips in Zhongshan Park. There are different flower landscapes in different seasons. There is also a lotus pond in the park. The pond is covered with lotus leaves. It is said that Mr. Sun Yat-sen once gave four lotus seeds to Mr. Tanaka Takashi, a Japanese friend, to express his gratitude for his support and help to China’s revolutionary cause. The four lotus seeds represent pure friendship. Later, one of them germinated and was named ‘Sun Wen Lotus’. In 1995, Japanese friendly people returned its seeds to Qingdao and planted them in this pond. Therefore, this pond is called ‘Sun Wen Lotus Pond’. There are also scenic spots such as the ruins of Huiqian Village and the statue of Sun Yat-sen in the park. In addition, there is an amusement park ‘Adventure World’ in the park. There are various amusement facilities here for you to enjoy. After visiting the park, you can also go to Qingdao Zoo and Qingdao Botanical Garden. These two parks are adjacent to Zhongshan Park.
