Haikou Zhongshan Road is a well-known and charming street in China. The shophouses here are filled with Lingnan and Southeast Asian characteristics. Most of these shophouses were built by overseas Chinese returning from Southeast Asia in the early 20th century, drawing inspiration from Southeast Asian architectural styles. The buildings are not very tall, mostly two or three stories high, and when more than a dozen of these shophouses are connected, they form a spectacular sight.
The long corridors in front of the shophouses connect the entire district, providing shelter from the harsh sun and heavy rain for pedestrians, and also serving as an open communication space for merchants to attract customers.Longhua District Zhongshan Road
