Zhongyuan Town is located in the south of Qionghai City. It is adjacent to the beautiful Wanquan River in the east and the majestic Baishiling Mountain in the west. It borders Jiaji Town, where the Qionghai municipal government is located, in the north. In the 1950s, this place was once the location of Lehui County Government. It is known as ‘the commercial port in southern Qionghai’ and ‘the hometown of overseas Chinese’. Zhongyuan Town is just in the middle section of the east line expressway and is another important passage to enter and exit Boao Paradise Town. Relying on its unique geographical advantages, Zhongyuan Town has become an important node on the golden tourist route in eastern Hainan. The several major restaurants in the town receive as many as several thousand or even tens of thousands of tourists on average every day. Walking in the small town shaded by lush and uniquely shaped banyan trees with vines and rain, on both sides are arcade buildings in various beautiful colors such as yellow, red, and green with a strong Nanyang style. The storefronts on both sides of the small town have been replaced with unified wooden plaques or store signs with the same style. The streets on both sides are decorated colorfully. The brightly colored potted flowers placed outside the store windows, the exquisite carved columns, and the nostalgic street lamps all add a beautiful landscape to this newly built Nanyang-style small town.
