Opium War Relics Park in Zhoushan (formerly known as Zhushan Park) is located at Zhushan and Xiaofeng Ridge in the historical and cultural city of Dinghai, west of the city. It covers an area of 12 hectares and was completed in June 1997. Zhushan stands at an elevation of 92 meters, facing the sea with mountains at its back, and Xiaofeng Ridge, adjacent to Zhushan, is the vantage point for overlooking the southern seas of Dinghai. From here, one can see the eastern and western parts of Dinghai City and its surrounding towns. It was the main battlefield during the second Dinghai defense in the 1840s during the Opium War period.
The park features attractions such as broken pillars, a monument inscribed with inscriptions by a hundred generals, a cemetery of fallen soldiers, a memorial square for three commanders, a pavilion named ‘Ao Gu’, the Opium War Museum, the San Zhong Temple, the site of Ge Yunfei’s death, the site of Wang Shipeng’s death, and the site of Zheng Guohong’s death.
