Zhu Gongyan is located at the foot of Wuyan Mountain in Huaxi Village, Niansanli Town, Yiwu City. Although named ‘rock’, it is actually a cave. According to legend, in ancient times, a monk engraved the three characters ‘Zhuyang Cave’ here, hence its name. Zhu Gongyan is its common name. Zhuyang Cave is surrounded by mountains on three sides. On the top of the cave entrance, there are stone inscriptions such as ‘Yunshan Rock Chamber’ and ‘Wash Stones and Rest on Streams’ written by Zhou Shiying, the magistrate of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, and Yu Guoqi, the master of Zhuyang Cave.
There are also inscriptions such as ‘Clouds Flying’ and ‘Zen Rock’ written by Yu Enshou from Hezhou during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Inside the cave, there are inner caves, outer caves, side caves and alleys. Large caves contain small caves, and all caves are connected with each other, with strange and ingenious shapes. The larger caves are about 10 meters deep, 5 meters wide, and more than 2 meters high, with an area of more than 50 square meters. Inside, it is as spacious as a hall with bright light and can accommodate a hundred people.
