Zhu Tan Mountain is located in the Xiandu Scenic Area. The main attractions include Xian Di, Hui Weng Pavilion, Jiu Long Wall, and Chao Ran Pavilion.
Xian Di: The entrance to the scenic spot is a long embankment located between two bridges, known as Xian Di. On both sides of Xian Di, willows sway gently, and the embankment paved with pebbles is both romantic and affectionate. It has become a popular location for local lovers to take wedding photos, with its popularity increasing day by day, attracting thousands of couples from neighboring cities such as Lishui, Jinhua, and Wuyi. The main reason why Xian Di has become a popular location for wedding photo shoots is due to the location of Dinghu Peak, which, together with Lianxi, serves as the backdrop for wedding photos, jointly bearing witness to their love. It implies that lovers are like the reflection of Dinghu Peak in the water, with one another within each other. On Xian Di, there is a four-cornered pavilion named Wangfeng Pavilion and an adjacent waterside pavilion, which not only embellish the scenery but also serve as excellent vantage points for photography. From here, Dinghu Peak stands majestic on the shore, while its reflection in the water is graceful and swaying with the waves. As the afterglow of the sunset sprinkles a golden hue, both the Dinghu Peak on the shore and in the stream become even more beautiful and moving, resembling the celestial palaces in the sky. This picturesque scenery is the essence of Xiandu and has been a stop for celebrities throughout history. It has also been the filming location for dozens of films and TV series such as ‘Ashima’, ‘Handsome Siblings’, ‘Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils’, and ‘Emperor Wu of Han’.
Hui Weng Pavilion: It is a semi-circular pavilion built artificially inside a cave. The pavilion covers an area of 90 square meters and is about 6 meters high, with a wooden structure and two pavilion corners extending outside the cave. The cave is named Hui Weng Cave, and the mountain behind is Hui Weng Rock. At the foot of the mountain, Haoxi River is broad and deep, known as Zhu Tan. It is said that the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianist master Zhu Xi (styled Hui Weng) once rested here, and all the scenic spots here are named after Zhu Xi’s surname and alias. Hui Weng Rock rises several tens of meters high and extends for hundreds of meters from north to south, with cliffs and green pools, ancient caves, and a secluded charm. The ancient trees cover the sky, making it another good place to explore the secluded beauty of Xiandu. Behind Hui Weng Rock, the environment is quiet and secluded, with many intertwined trees, making it an ideal place for lovers to pledge their love.
Jiu Long Wall: By the water’s edge, there is a peculiar rock wall known as the Jiu Long Wall. It is a strip-like layered tectonic structure. The entire tectonic zone is about 100 meters long, almost parallel to the surface of Haoxi River, with the lowest point less than 1 meter above the water. The caves within the tectonic zone vary in height and depth, reaching up to 4 meters in height and 4 meters in depth. Because the tectonic zone is located among cliffs, the tuffaceous rock layers are distinct, undulating and curved, with protrusions and recesses, resembling countless dragons lying潜伏 on the rocks, hence the name Jiu Long Wall, also known as Dragon Cliff.
Chao Ran Pavilion: By the stream, there is a four-cornered single-eave pavilion called Chao Ran Pavilion, which means transcending the mundane and wandering with leisurely clouds. It is a viewing pavilion for overlooking the sunrise at Ma’anshan. The base of the pavilion is 2 meters long, and it is 5 meters high, with a wooden structure and red columns with green tiles.
To the east, one can overlook the sunrise at Ma’anshan. To the north, one can closely observe Tianshi Cave. To the south, one can see the majestic appearance of Dinghu Peak. To appreciate the charm of Zhutan Mountain, one should sit down and slowly feel and experience its natural tranquility, freshness and simplicity.
Opening hours: Open from 08:00 to 17:00 all year round.
