Zhuangyuan Street: A Cultural Oasis in Quanzhou

Zhuangyuan Street, approximately 500 meters long, boasts an elegant setting and primarily specializes in tourism and cultural crafts. The street is divided into three distinct sections. The first section is a pedestrian walkway within a residential area, connected by bridges on the second and third floors, and adorned with three archways – “Haibin Zou Lu”, “Yue Xian Hai Bang”, and “Si Men Xue Shi”. In the middle, there is a public leisure square spanning over 700 square meters.
Upon entering the second section, one encounters the archways “Ren Feng Xing Chun”, “Bai Yun Gu Di”, and “Tai Kang Zhao Shi”. Inside the district, two large murals on the walls of the square depict “Zi Jian Lao Zi” and “Lao Zi Chu Guan”.

The third section is particularly notable for its replica Song Dynasty Zhuangyuan Stone Archway at the street entrance, inscribed with the names of Zhuangyuan from Quanzhou throughout history, such as Zeng Conglong, Liang Kejia, Zhuang Jichang, and Wu Lu. The Zhuangyuan Stone Archway, alongside the “Carp Leaping Over the Dragon’s Gate” and “Fisherman, Woodcutter, Farmer, and Scholar” reliefs, reflect the profound cultural tradition of hard work and study in ancient Quanzhou.
