Zhucheng, formerly known as Mizhou in ancient times, is rich in dinosaur fossil resources and has been named ‘China’s Dinosaur City’. At present, there are more than 30 dinosaur fossil sites discovered in Zhucheng. More than 10 new dinosaur species fossils such as ‘Giant Shandong Dragon’, ‘Giant Zhucheng Dragon’, ‘Zhucheng Sinoceratops’, ‘Unexpected Zhucheng Ceratops’, ‘Giant Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus’ and ‘Zhucheng Sinoceratops’ have been unearthed.
The world’s large dinosaur fossil group and dinosaur footprint group have been discovered. It is hailed as ‘the world’s dinosaur fossil treasure trove’ by paleontological experts and is recognized as a rare world geological wonder by the UNESCO expert group. Relying on the shocking and magical dinosaur fossil resources, Zhucheng has developed and constructed five major scenic spots (‘one area and four museums’: Zhucheng Dinosaur Museum, Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus Museum of China, Zhucheng Dinosaur Cube Exhibition Hall, Zhucheng Sinoceratops Museum of China and Zhucheng Ankylosaurus Museum of China) with the theme of ‘geological science popularization and cultural tourism’. Zhucheng Dinosaur Museum: Located in the dinosaur park in the urban area of Zhucheng, it is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. It has exhibition halls such as the Giant Zhucheng Dragon Exhibition Hall, the Sacred Dragon Head and Mysterious Dragon Bone Exhibition Hall, the Dinosaur Egg Fossil Exhibition Hall, the Dinosaur Footprint Fossil Exhibition Hall, the Cretaceous Dinosaur Living World Exhibition Hall, as well as the dinosaur fossil science popularization exhibition and the hundred-dragon painting exhibition. The treasure of the museum – ‘Giant Zhucheng Dragon’, 9. 1 meters high and 16.6 meters long, has won the Guinness World Record and is known as ‘the king of dinosaurs in the world’. The dinosaur footprint fossil exhibition hall displays the world’s only 180-degree turning dinosaur footprint fossil. The Cretaceous dinosaur living world exhibition hall displays various dinosaur fossil skeletons, simulated dinosaurs and Cretaceous plants, fully feeling the charm and magic of Zhucheng dinosaurs. Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus Museum of China: Located in the Zangjiazhuang scenic area of Zhucheng Dinosaur National Geological Park, it is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. It is named after the unearthed one of the world’s largest tyrannosaurs – ‘Giant Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus’ and is famous all over the world for collecting the world’s only large tyrannosaur with feathers – Yutyrannus huali. Following the growth trajectory of Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus, through the time tunnel, approaching the site of group dragon fighting, and personally experiencing the survival competition scenes of the law of the jungle in the dinosaur era.
