Zhu Ji Alleyway is situated between Mei Ling and the county town of Nanxiong, serving as a post station during the Tang Dynasty and evolving into Shajiao Town during the Northern Song Dynasty. It is an important settlement for people from the Central Plains who migrated to Lingnan, as well as the birthplace of the residents of the Pearl River Delta and the ancestral home of countless overseas Chinese.
Zhu Ji Ancient Alleyway has largely preserved the original appearance of the ancient post road. The alley is divided into North Gate, Central Street, and South Gate, featuring three city-gate style towers, with a total length of over one kilometer, all of which are buildings from the late Ming Dynasty. Northwest of the ‘Zhu Ji Ancient Alleyway’ archway, there stands a seven-story octagonal solid stone tower from the Yuan Dynasty, which is the only stone tower from the Yuan Dynasty in Guangdong Province with a verifiable age and is now a key cultural relic under protection in Guangdong Province. Opening hours: The site is open all year round from 07:00 to 18:00.
